So sorry to hear of Sister Mary Edwardines passing...my deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. I am one of a family of 10 children who attended St. Mary's from 1st through 9th grade. Sister Edwardine had a hand in raising us, shaping us, scolding us, and encouraging us to always do and give our best. I graduated from St. Marys in 1974, and can't begin to count how often I still mention her when I tell stories of my childhood and school years. She left a deep and lasting impression on me. She is with her Lord now, but something tells me she is standing with one hand on her hip, and the other hand has a finger pointed and wagging at us :)
Rest in peace, Sister; I so hope you knew how much you meant to each of us.

My mother and Jane were close friends growing up. Sister Edwardine gave me my first job as a teacher at St Mary's in Pawtucket. She was a nice lady. I hope her and my mother are sharing old times together right now. God Bless.

Sister Jane has been a friend of my family (Dr. Carl & Winnie Macksoud) for many years. I have such wonderful memories of all the fun we had down at East Matunuck at Father Bill's house with Father Driscoll and Sister Barbara and the Christmas parties at my house. She was always so pleasant, had such a warm smile and was so fun-loving. My thoughts & prayers are with her and her family. I will miss you Sister Jane.

Dear Family of Sister Mary Edwardine,
Sister was my 4th grade teacher at St. Ann School in Providence, many years ago. She was very young then, this being the early 50's. I have thought of her and spoken about her many times over the years. She fostered my love of learning and was so very kind to all of us. I wish that I had known that she was at St. Kevin's, I would have surely visited. She will always remain in my memory as one of my best teachers and a beautiful human being.

Sister Edwardine was one of my favorite teachers. She was my homeroom teacher at Bay View in 6th grade. She was a wonderful person and taught me so much more then just proper grammar. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

The Gallogly family wishes to express our deepest condolences to Sister Edwardine's family, friends and the Mercy community. We had the pleasure of knowing Sister Edwardine as the dear friend of our aunt, Sister Rose Gallogly. When she joined us at family gatherings, Sister Edwardine (who we knew as Sister Jane) was always upbeat and ready with a smile, a laugh and a kind word. She was even willing to sing the beautiful Mercy hymn with our Aunt Helen to a group of us on a gorgeous evening a couple of summers ago. It was very moving to hear two such dedicated and, dear I say, holy people expressing their abiding faith in song. I will never forget it. Sister Jane was a delight to be with and will be missed by our loving Aunt Helen and our entire family. Rest in peace. Paul Gallogly

Although I did not attend St. Mary School in Pawtucket, I did know Sister Edwardine and actually met her at a carnival that the school held in their schoolyard. Whenever I attended diocesan conferences, she always recognized me and said hello. And, because we are preparing for Catholic Schools Week next Monday, what better way to honor this wonderful Sister and educator than to remember her in our prayers. My sympathy to her family and to the Sisters of Mercy Northeast Community of which she was a member.
