John F. "Jack" Mello

December 20, 1937 ~ November 13, 2015 (age 77) 77 Years Old


MELLO, John Francis “Jack”, 77, a lifelong resident of West Warwick, passed away on November 13, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. 

He was the beloved husband for 47 years of Antonetta “Etta” (Pardi) Mello and devoted father to Leanne (Mello) and Kevin Starace of Washington, DC and John and Katlin Mello of Wilmington, MA. 

Jack is survived by three grandchildren he cherished, Santino and Vittoria Starace and Elsa Mello as well as his sisters, Theresa Michalec and Helen Plante of West Warwick, Rita Levesque of East Greenwich and his brother, Joseph Mello of Coventry.  The youngest of 11 children, he is the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Couto) Mello and brother of the late Edward, Thomas, Daniel and Louise Mello, Mary Wick and Alice Zajdek. 

Jack was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and was currently VP of Sales at Fortune Metal, Lincoln RI.  Jack was also an active member of the Portuguese American Sports Club and the Club Frontenac both of West Warwick as well as the St Mary’s Feast Society of Cranston. 

Visitation and funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 from 9:30-10:30 am in the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington St., Coventry.  Interment with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to a special charity of the Mello family, Pediatric Cancer Foundation Journey for a Cure, www.journey4acure.com in his memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences, please visit: www.henault-gallogly.com
