Robert P. Strasser

STRASSER, Robert P., 88, of Chamber Rd., West Warwick, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Kent Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Rita T. (O’Neill) Strasser, they had been married for 67 years.  Born in Greensburg, PA, he was the son of the late George and Rose (Carnes) Strasser.

Mr. Strasser served with the US Navy for 30 years including WW II and the Korean War before retiring in 1969 as an Aviation Support Chief.  He was an active communicant of St. Mary Parish, a founding member and Past Grand Knight of the Mary Doran Council # 8977 Knights of Columbus, past Faithfull Navigator of the Fr. Wallace Assembly Fourth Degree and a graduate of Johnson & Wales University.

Besides his wife he leaves three daughters, Kathleen M. Rechter (Mark) of Chepachet, Maureen R. McCarthy (Kevin) of Maricopa, AZ and Paula H. Strasser (Dawn Fry) of Tolleson, AZ; five grandchildren, Jennifer Thibodeau, Joshua and Justin Rechter, Erin and Brian McCarthy and four great grandchildren, Talia and Jordan Thibodeau, Sergio Sanchez and Andrew Rechter.

His funeral will be held Monday, May 23, 2016 at 9:00 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street, West Warwick.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in St. Mary Church, 70 Church Street, West Warwick.  Interment will follow with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery.  Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 pm.  In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Mary Church or West Warwick Firefighters Memorial Association, P.O.
