I never knew Norman but I believe I have one of his dulcimers. I recently came across a letter written to me on September 9, 1974 and signed by Norman Gadoury Jr. of Hope, RI. He was replying to a letter from me about purchasing a dulcimer kit. The idea was he would cut and prepare the pieces and send them to me as a "kit" that I could assemble and glue together thus making my own dulcimer.
Norman's name is not a common one so I decided to try looking him up on the internet and came across this memorial page. Seems like from what I read here he must be the same luthier I corresponded with so many years ago.
I'm glad to see he has such a loving family and lived a full and creative ( if medically difficult) life.
Blessings to Norman and all the best to his family.

So sorry to hear of Norman's passing. I often wondered what happened to your family when you all left Hope.
Many fond memories of your family. Especially of Norman.

Norman crafted my dulcimer, a gft from my husband to be, back in the Seventies and I have such fond memories of meeting him. He was a gracious host and I enjoyed his cooking at that time I was graduate student at URI. I also had the privilege of visiting his family on one occasion where Norman's dad cooked an amazing clam chowder. God has welcomed you home with dulcimers playing your song, dear Norman, you were a specially gifted person. I regret losing touch with you. Forgive me. My condolences to your family and all who loved you,
with fond memories
Sheila

I took care of Norman when he was on dialysis at RI Hospital. I remember him as being kind and very intelligent. I also recall his family hosting a cookout for the dialysis staff at his parent's home. I am glad to learn that he kept his Dad's kidney for such a long time and that he was able to live a productive life. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

This picture is SO much the kind face we've been gifted to know for many years. Norman lived his life despite all the challenges and not once complaints become part of his life. Norman was a gentle and kind friend. Peace to the family.
