Thomas Elgin Roarke, 64, formerly of Cranston, died at his home in Boston on October 10, 2025, after a long illness. Born in Wichita, Kansas, on February 6, 1961, he was the son of the late Michael Thomas and Merry Sue (Blair) Roarke. He leaves behind four sisters who loved him dearly: Susan Roarke, Karen Roarke and her husband, Douglas Cluff, Janet O’Connell and her husband, Patrick O’Connell, and Kelly Jo Roarke. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Michael O’Connell, Cameron Cluff and his wife, Sydney Cluff, Hailey O’Connell, and Brennan Cluff.
Tom/Tommy, as he was known to those closest to him, was kind, quick-witted, and a loyal friend. He was a competitive athlete and a standout in baseball. Tom caught for Jacksonville University and was drafted by the Houston Astros. He was an avid reader with an inquisitive mind and had an untiring spirit. His natural charm and dynamic personality never failed to leave an impression. Tom always met challenges with hope, perseverance, and a healthy dose of humor.
He will be missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 11:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 235 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston, RI 02920. Words of remembrance will be offered by the family immediately before Mass at 10:45 am. Burial will be private.
