Thomas R. Pimental, Sr., 95, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Kent Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of the late Veronica M. (Costa) Pimental, with whom he shared many devoted years of marriage before her passing this past February. Born and raised in West Warwick, he was the son of the late Manuel L. and Maria (Mello) Pimental and remained a proud lifelong resident of the community he loved.
Tom dedicated his professional career to the field of electrical engineering. For many years, he was employed by Fenton G. Keyes Associates, an architectural and engineering firm serving Boston and Providence, and later by Raytheon in Portsmouth, where he continued his work until retirement. Respected for his intelligence, dedication, and strong work ethic, he took great pride in his profession and the contributions he made throughout his career.
A man of deep faith, Tom was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony Church. He found great joy in simple pleasures, especially fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was also a proud member of the West Warwick Portuguese Holy Ghost Society, maintaining a strong connection to his Portuguese heritage and the traditions that were important to him.
Music was one of Tom’s lifelong passions. As a young man, he developed a love for bands and musical performance that remained with him throughout his life. He was an accomplished drummer for many years before later taking up the baritone horn. Through his involvement with both the West Warwick Independent Band and the Rhode Island Independent Band, he formed lasting friendships and shared his love of music with audiences throughout the state.
Tom will be remembered for his gentle nature, quiet strength, unwavering devotion to his family, and the kindness he extended to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving children, Thomas R. Pimental, Jr. and Patricia A. Pimental and her husband, Dr. John O’Hara; his brother, Antonio “Tony” Pimental of West Warwick; his cherished grandsons, John Bernard O’Hara and Padraic O’Hara; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Cecelia Rita, Mary Bedard, Christine Pacheco, Victoria Boisclair, Irene Palazzo, Manuel Pimental, Michael Pimental, John Pimental, Joseph Pimental, and August “Gus” Pimental.
