Suzanne Parry Obituary

Suzanne M. (Plaziak) Parry, 79, passed away in the comfort of her youngest daughter's home on Sunday, June 14, 2026. She will be remembered for being devoted to her family, loyal to her friends, and faithful to her God.

Sue was born in Providence, RI on February 27, 1947, to the late Stanley and Anita (Lizotte) Plaziak, and was a life-long resident of West Warwick. She married Donald Parry in 1966 and celebrated 42 years together before his death in 2008.

After graduating from West Warwick High School in 1964, Sue entered the workforce and excelled in every job she held over the course of 53 years. She celebrated her well-deserved retirement in 2017, after which she focused on doing the things that she delighted in the most - spending time with her family, tending to her flower garden, feeding and watching the birds that visited her backyard, attending summer music concerts in town, enjoying reunion dinners with her high school friends, and shopping at local craft fairs with her sister during the holidays.

Sue was diagnosed with aggressive lung cancer in July of 2023, but she was not willing to go down without a fight. And what a fighter she was. During her 3 years of chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy treatments, she also survived a bout of sepsis, recovered from a broken arm and subsequent surgery, and dealt with an unexpected heart issue. Her hope and strength in the face of a relentless disease was a constant source of inspiration to her whole family.

There are many people who already miss Sue terribly. They include daughter Laurie and husband Edward Longo, daughter Carol and husband Ralph McCullough, sister Charlotte Reels, and nephew Eric Reels. Also missing her are her treasured grandchildren Timothy Longo and his wife Danielle Jacques, Jeffrey Longo, Olivia Burke and her husband Kevin, and Emily Longo and her fiancee Jason Salerno. Her adored great-grandchildren Owen and Annie will have the memory of their Memere to look back on in the abundant photos taken with her every time they were together.

Sue's family would like to thank the kind nurses of Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice for their care and compassion during the past two months. Special thanks go to Rachel, Bailey, and Ashley for their comfort and support.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sue's life on Friday, June 26, 2026 in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:00 AM, immediately followed by a prayer service led by Rev. Brian Morris from Christ the King Parish at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Rhode Island Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.
