Susan (Craft) McAllister, 72, of Pawtuxet Village, Warwick, passed away on Thursday evening, August 7, 2025, with her beloved daughter by her side.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Arnold W. Craft, II and Carol S. (Schaeffer) Craft. Susan spent many years in the Garden City section of Cranston before settling in the close-knit community of Pawtuxet Village, where she lived for the past twenty years, lovingly tending to her historic home.
A dedicated advocate for student success in higher education, Susan served as the Assistant Director of the Office of Academic Support and Information Services (OASIS) at Rhode Island College for two decades, retiring in 2021. Her patient guidance and unwavering commitment to the students she advised over the years left a lasting impact on generations of learners and colleagues alike.
Susan is best remembered for her dry wit and great ability to match any conversationalist with wry humor and a near-encyclopedic knowledge on a seemingly endless list of topics ranging from keen insights into the current political climate to the latest gossip featured on the current cover of People magazine. She devoured all things interior design and decor and had a lifelong passion for fashion and style, often boasting about passing on her sense of good taste to her daughter, Cara.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Cara C. McAllister, her two sisters, Barbara C. Orekondy and Judith Kato, her beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Interment will follow at Pawtuxet Memorial Park, 100 Harrison Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours are Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcomed in Susan’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, RI Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
