KETTELL, RSM, SISTER JEAN, 84, a Sister of Mercy for 65 years, died on June 24, 2021 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Catherine (McCarthy) Kettell and sister of the late Robert, Elizabeth, and Dolores. She is survived by a niece, Valerie Barcelos; a great nephew, Michael Barcelos and several other nieces and nephews.
Sister Jean spent her early years of ministry as a teacher and principal in schools in the Diocese of Providence. She often kept contact with her many pupils. In later years, using technology, she developed her Facebook ministry. She corresponded with people all over the world extending the spirit of Mercy in her own unique way.
A lover of nature, Sister Jean lived a quiet life with her beloved cat, Princess. Birds and squirrels and butterflies enriched her appreciation of God’s creation. Appreciating human companionship, she often met a close friend for breakfast and conversation. She will be missed by her friends, especially Karen and Estelle, and those with whom she kept contact.
