TITA, Sheila A., (O’Shaughnessy), R.N., Ph.D., 81, of Columbia Lane, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence.
She was the beloved wife of Dante F. Tita, they had been married for forty eight years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Hugh L. and Ellen B. (Clancy) O’Shaughnessy and sister of the late Hugh P. O’Shaughnessy, M.D. She lived in North Scituate for thirty five years before moving to Jamestown in 2007.
Sheila was a 1957 graduate of Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University, Master’s Degree from URI and her Ph.D. from University of Connecticut at Storrs. She was a Nursing Professor at RI College, Salve Regina University and CCRI for many years before retiring. She was a member of the RI Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, a communicant of St. Mark Church, Jamestown, a former communicant of St. Paul Church, Edgewood and a graduate of St. Paul School.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 10:00 am in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02906 in her memory would be appreciated.
