Sheila K. (French) Cardinal, 95, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her on Monday afternoon, June 22, 2026, at West View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was the beloved wife of Roger P. Cardinal. Together they shared forty-four years of marriage filled with love, companionship, and devotion.
Born in London, England, Sheila was the daughter of the late Alfred and Flora (Regan) French. In 1966, she immigrated to the United States and made her home in West Warwick, where she would reside for the remainder of her life.
Sheila was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the former Rhode Island Medical Center, now Eleanor Slater Hospital in Cranston, for many years before retiring in 1992. Her caring nature and dedication to helping others made her well respected by both her colleagues and those she served.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sheila found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She enjoyed completing word puzzles in the newspaper, traveling, watching crime shows on television, and had a special affection for cats. Her warm spirit, sense of humor, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Besides her husband, she leaves her three children, Kurt Reader, Kim Campbell, and Kathleen Williams; her four grandchildren, Amanda Campbell, Justin Campbell, Daron Williams, and Shea Williams; her seven great-grandchildren, Allana, Ellie, Addison, Reese, London, Lacey, and Riker; and her great-great-grandson, Cash. She was the sister of the late Ralph French and Brian French.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Gathering on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, followed by a prayer service at 11:30 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) or a charity of one's choice in Sheila's memory would be appreciated.
