Sergio Ramon Mesa Sanchez

Sergio Ramon Mesa Sanchez, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 20, 2026, in Warwick, RI.  Sergio had a long battle with Congestive Heart failure and other conditions; his family supported, encouraged, and surrounded him during the long process.

Sergio Ramon Mesa Sanchez was born on December 29, 1962, in Dominican Republic to parents Cruz and Plinio Mesa. He met his partner, who would later become his wife Leyda Santana de Mesa in 1987; and had three daughters named Leyda Mesa, Etmi Mesa, and Zabdi Mesa. Sergio became a Rhode Island resident in 2002, after moving to the United States with his three daughters to give them a better life.

Anyone who met Sergio could never forget his beautiful smile, charisma, and servant’s heart. Everyone who visited him was always met with a meal prepared by him or his wife Leyda Santana De Mesa, and a wonderful time of laughter as well as a little bit of chaos. Sergio dedicated his life to providing for his daughters, guarding them, and raising them alone from 2002-2010 until his wife was able to come to the United States in the year 2010.

In his early adult life Sergio had an encounter with Jesus and accepted him as his Lord and savior. He was passionate about his bible reading and going to different outreach teams to preach the Gospel. During his life he had different setbacks and struggles that would hinder his passion for Christ. However, God never gave up on him and during the last months of his life he cried out to God and rededicated his life to Jesus.

Sergio Ramon Mesa Sanchez was survived by his wife, Leyda Santana de Mesa and daughters, Leyda Mesa, Zabdi Mesa, and Etmi Mesa. He was also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Javid Dejesus, Amilia Dejesus, Emmanuel Dejesus, Darah Santos, Abigail Santos, Lily Valentina Depina; his precious sisters, Maribel Mesa and Altagracia Mesa Taveras, and his brothers Pedro Julio and Poli as well as his many loving nieces and nephews. Sergio was preceded in death by his relatives Cruz Mesa, Plinio Mesa, Ulises Mesa, and his wonderful nephew Almanny Nunez.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 9:00-11:00 AM in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Funeral service at 11:30 AM in the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, 370 Strawberry Field Road, Warwick, with light refreshments following at the Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Burial Ground Cemetery, Fairview Avenue, Coventry.
