Russell H. Strickland, Sr., 55, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, July 28, 2025, at Miriam Hospital in Providence.
Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of Maria E. (Antocicco) Strickland and the late Robert W. Strickland, Sr. Russell spent his early years in Providence before settling in Pawtucket, where he built a life filled with hard work, family, and unforgettable stories.
For forty years, Russell worked as a paving contractor, traveling across the country with his gypsy family paving. Known for his tireless work ethic and adventurous spirit, he left his mark not just on roads, but on the hearts of those he met along the way. He was a natural storyteller, and his colorful tales of life on the road and his many experiences were a joy to those who knew him. Russell had an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and he cherished the friendships he made throughout his travels.
Above all, Russell loved his family. His happiest moments were those spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure.
He is survived by his children: Michael Wallace, John Wallace, Russell Strickland, Jr. and Justina Strickland; his seven siblings: Robert Strickland, Jr., Reggie Strickland, Ronald Strickland, Rebekah Strickland, Roxeanne Strickland, Richard Strickland, and Raymond Strickland; and his six cherished grandchildren: Russell Strickland, III, Ella Wallace, Everly Strickland, Ja’Niyah Strickland, Atlas Wallace, and J’Lisa Strickland.
