Robert K. vanVeen, 66, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 3, 2026, at Kent Hospital in Warwick.
He was the beloved husband of the late Rosellen (McLaughlin) vanVeen, with whom he shared forty-two years of devoted marriage until her passing in 2024. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the son of the late Anthony M. and Ruth (Perkins) vanVeen. Bob made his home in Warwick for many years, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and simple joys.
Bob dedicated more than four decades to the food service industry, a career that reflected both his talent and his passion. He served as a chef at Johnson & Wales University, where he supervised student dining halls and took great pride in mentoring young people entering the culinary field. His work was more than a profession—it was a way to connect, to teach, and to bring comfort to others through food.
At home, Bob found his greatest happiness surrounded by his family. He especially loved cooking for those he cherished, preparing meals that brought everyone together. Whether in the kitchen or at the table, those moments were where he felt most at peace. He also enjoyed listening to music, which was a constant and comforting presence throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Kristen Rose vanVeen; and his brother, Philip vanVeen. He was the devoted father of the late John F. vanVeen and the brother of the late David vanVeen.
His funeral services will be private, and visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
