Robert W. Moeller, 74, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024, surrounded by his family at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. Bob, as he was fondly known, leaves behind a legacy of music, education, and warmth that touched the lives of many.
Born in Queens, New York, to the late William and Emma E. (Jansen) Moeller, Bob's love for music began early. He started playing the organ in church at the age of 13. His musical talents were cherished by many, whether he was playing in church, for professional sports teams, or at notable venues like Nassau Coliseum and the 1965 New York World Fair.
Bob was not only a gifted musician but also an excellent cook, known for his culinary skills at parties. His interest in history, particularly the Civil War, was well-known among his friends and family. Before pursuing his passion for teaching, Bob worked on servicing business equipment. His journey eventually led him to the University of Rhode Island, where he trained to become a middle school science teacher—a role he truly loved. Bob’s dedication to his students and his passion for teaching were evident in the way he connected with the kids, always eager to share his knowledge and wisdom.
Bob was a resident of Cranston for 39 years and was known for his love of dressing with style, and his enjoyment of exploring new restaurants. His great sense of humor and ability to offer thoughtful advice endeared him to many. Bob’s presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Waters) Moeller, with whom he shared forty-six years of marriage. Besides his wife, he leaves behind two daughters, Allison Picard and her husband Richard, and Kathleen Chisnall and her husband Matthew, as well as a cherished granddaughter, Annikah.
His funeral will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 8:45 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence St., West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Cedar Avenue, East Greenwich. Visiting hours are Thursday, 5:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02906, in his memory would be appreciated.
