Robert O. Bickford, Jr., of Coventry, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday evening, December 17, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
He was the devoted husband of Eva T. (Oakes) Bickford, with whom he shared thirty-eight years of marriage filled with love, partnership, and cherished memories. Born in Plymouth, New Hampshire, Robert was the son of the late Robert O. Bickford, Sr. and Geraldine A. (Raymond) Bickford. He made his home in Coventry for many years, where he built a life rooted in family and community.
Robert worked as an automobile mechanic for many years, a trade that reflected his patience, skill, and strong work ethic, before retiring. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine Corps Veteran during the Vietnam War era, a source of lifelong pride. Above all else, Robert was a family man who treasured time spent with his loved ones and his dogs. He found peace and joy in the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. A man of quiet passions, he was also a longtime member of the South County Gun Club.
In addition to his beloved wife, Eva, Robert leaves behind his children, Robert O. Bickford, III and his wife Kathy, Eric W. Thornlimb, and Shannon Phillips; his cherished grandchildren, Robert O. Bickford, IV, Regan Bickford, and Dylan J. Phillips; and his sisters, Deborah Weakley and Lori Holman. He was predeceased by his sister, Sheila Beaulieu, and his brother, Gregory Bickford.
Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Military Honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
