FRIED, RHODA F., 88, passed away at St. Elizabeth Home after a long illness. Born in Bronx, New York the daughter of Albert and Gussie (Gross) Feigenbaum, she lived in Union, West Orange and Somerset New Jersey before moving to East Greenwich, RI.
She received her Bachelor of Arts from Hunter College and Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Columbia University. She worked as a Speech Pathologist in the Newark, NJ school system for nearly thirty years.
She was active as a member and past president of the Board of Education in Union, NJ. She was a past officer in the Phillip Portnoy Humanitarian Association and a past recipient of the Humanitarian of the Year Award.
She was the beloved wife of fifty years of C. Richard Fried, predeceased and devoted mother of Alan S. Fried of Linden, NJ, David L. Fried, MD and wife Judy of East Greenwich, RI and Robert T. Fried and wife Abbe of South Amboy, NJ. She was a loving grandmother to Jennifer (Fried) Vega, Elizabeth (Fried) Godding, Jason, Daniel Zachary and Rachel Fried. She was a great grandmother to five.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ at 12:30pm on Monday, December 19, 2022. Shiva will be held at the home of Robert and Abbe Fried on Monday evening 5-9pm. A private Shiva will be held at the home of David and Judy Fried on Tuesday, December 20, 5-9pm.
