Rene Vadeboncoeur Obituary

VADEBONCOEUR, Rene O., (O.M.I.), 95, formerly of Sheffield Avenue, West Warwick, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, August 29, 2020 at Woodpecker Hill Nursing Home, Greene.

He was the beloved husband of the late Margot E. (Neuman) Vadeboncoeur who passed away in 2019.  Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late Ovide and Orise (Jalbert) Vadeboncoeur.  He was a lifelong resident of the Pawtuxet Valley area.

Mr. Vadeboncoeur was an ordained Roman Catholic Brother in the order of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (O.M.I.) having served the order faithfully for 7 years in Colebrook, NH in his early adulthood and remained immensely dedicated to his Christian faith to the very end of his life. After leaving religious life he went on to become a nurse in the 1950's tending to the needs of tuberculosis patients at a state hospital in Wallum Lake in R.I., he then worked for 10 years as a nurse at the R.I. state hospital in Cranston, RI where he took care of the elderly and disabled who were in the care of the State. He finished his diligent working life spending 20 years in pharmaceutical manufacturing at American Hoechst Corp. in Coventry, R.I.

He is survived by his sons, Normand E. Vadeboncoeur and his wife Brenda of Swansea, MA and Marc O. Vadeboncoeur of Coventry, R.I. and many nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Eudore Vadeboncoeur, Eugene Verboncoeur, Maurice Verboncoeur, Gerard Verboncoeur, Simone Brodeur, Gertrude DiMasi, Germaine King, Therese Golombek, and Lucien Picillo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 62 Pleasant Street, West Warwick followed by interment at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers contributions to the RI Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Avenue, Providence, RI 02907 in his memory would be appreciated.  Arrangements with PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home.  Information and condolences please visit: wwwPrataGallogly.com
