Rebecca F. "Becky" Magiera, 75, of Earl Street, West Warwick, passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday evening, April 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Kent Hospital.
Born in Providence to the late Bernard F. "Benny" and Mary E. "Betty" (Francis) Magiera, she was a lifelong resident of West Warwick.
Becky dedicated her life to her work, a registered nurse, making a significant impact in every role she undertook. She was a beloved member of the community and contributed greatly to the success of multiple organizations throughout her career.
Graduating from St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1970, she began her career in ICU. She became one of the first nurses in Rhode Island to obtain her certification in Psychiatric and substance abuse and began many years of working in that field. She ran the only inpatient Methadone treatment facility in RI at Chapin Hospital, worked as a counselor, represented the Town of West Warwick as the Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator, and earned her Master’s Degree from Salve Regina. She retired from the State in 2009 due to illness.
Becky had many friends and enjoyed travelling, especially to Bermuda in her younger days.
Above all, Becky cherished her family. She is survived by her siblings, Christine Matone, Patricia Legault, Linda Plante, Donna Nester, Mary Beth Redmon (Jeff), Melissa Magiera, Col. John F. Magiera, WWPD (Ret.) (Kathleen) and the late Michael B. Magiera. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington Street, Coventry. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
