Raymond L. Gagne, 84, of West Warwick, passed away Sunday evening, May 4, 2025, at Kent Hospital. Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late Leodore and Alice (Thibodeau) Gagne. Raymond was a lifelong resident of West Warwick.
Raymond received a Bachelor's degree in education from Providence College in 1966 and a Master's degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1972. He started his teaching career at Wheeler High School in North Stonington, Connecticut in 1966, where he taught for many years. In 1985, he began a second career as a Medical Clerk in the X-Ray department at Kent Hospital, retiring in 2011.
Raymond was a devoted communicant of SS. John and James Church, where he served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was also past President and Secretary of the Holy Name Society at SS. John and James Parish, past President and Secretary of Club Frontenac for several years, and past President and Secretary of the North Stonington Education Association in 1977.
Raymond's enjoyments included traveling, reading, and sports. He is survived by several cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Cecile Raymond, Roland Gagne, and Leo Gagne.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2025, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at SS. John and James Church, Washington Street, West Warwick, followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Warwick.
