FINNERTY, Raymond J., 91, of Doray Drive, Hope, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of his high school sweetheart, the late Dorothy I. (Patnode) Finnerty. They were married on July 3, 1954. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Peter J. and M. Regina (Donahue) Finnerty.
Mr. Finnerty was a postal employee with the U.S. Postal Service for many years before retiring. He was a Korean War Marine Corps Veteran and a recipient of the distinguished Purple Heart. He was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Church in West Warwick and was inducted to the West Warwick Sports Hall of Fame.
He is survived by three children, Kim M. Baker and her husband Ronald, Karen L. Durand, and Brian R. Finnerty and his wife Kimberly M., six grandchildren, Janelle M. Adams, Nicole Citriniti, Alexandria Durand, Arissa Difillippo, Grayson Finnerty and Shelby Baker; four great grandchildren, Ava, Giuliano, Michael and Carter Finn and three siblings, Peter Finnerty, Carolyn Edison and Sheila M. Cabral. He was the brother of the late Leonard J., Robert J., Edward, J. Paul, Richard, Dennis and James Finnerty.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 48 Highland Street, West Warwick. Interment with military honors will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to SS. Peter & Paul Church or the DAV - Disabled American Veterans.
