Raymond F. Caswell, Jr., 80, of North Scituate, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Slinko) Caswell, with whom he shared 53 devoted years of marriage. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Raymond F. Caswell, Sr. and Jennie (Petrarca) Caswell.
Raymond was employed for 28 years as a pipe welder at Electric Boat in Quonset Point before retiring. He was also a member of the Rhode Island National Guard. He was a man deeply dedicated to his family and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. A natural problem solver with a creative spirit, Raymond was forever finding new projects to take on and thoughtful ways to improve the world around him.
Affectionately known by many nicknames—Kishy, Shorty, Uncle Ray and most lovingly Peepa, as he was called by his cherished grandson and granddaughter—Raymond brought warmth, humor, and kindness into the lives of all who knew him. He found great joy in gardening, mushrooming, fishing, crabbing, and quahogging, hobbies that reflected his love of nature and the simple pleasures of life.
In addition to his wife, Kathleen, he is survived by his siblings, Jennie Caswell and Anthony L. Caswell; his daughters, Colleen Caswell, Shelley (Caswell) Lambert, and her husband Adam Lambert; and his treasured grandchildren, Adam Lambert, Jr. and Abigail Lambert.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 9:00–11:00 a.m. at the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Paul Grenon. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 70 Church Street, West Warwick.
Memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
