Peter Fucito Obituary

Peter Fucito, 73 years old residing in Middletown, RI, passed away on November 6, 2024 after his battle with cancer.

Peter was born on April 18, 1951, to Michael Edward Fucito (d. April 1999) and Beatrice Viola Bachelor (d. June 1989) in Queens, New York. He grew up with his brothers, Michael Edward Fucito, Walter James Fucito, and David Fucito. He graduated from North Shore High School in Glen Cove, NY in June 1970.

Peter, with his childhood best friend and later Brother-in-Law, Karl Hansen, joined the US Military in 1970. Peter’s first duty station was onboard a US Navy Frigate in Brooklyn, NY where he was able to visit Karl’s family at their home, which led to a romance with Karl’s sister, Raye. Peter and Raye were married on June 16 th , 1973, in Glen Cove, NY.

After they were married, Peter and Raye (d. May 30, 2022) moved to Naples, Italy where they welcomed their son, Peter Micheal (d. December 12, 2020) and daughter, Jennifer Lynn. They then moved to Charleston, SC and welcomed another daughter, Jamie Charlene. In July 1979, the family of five moved to Newport, RI. Peter retired after serving aboard three US Navy Frigates as an Operation Specialist. Ashore, he served as an Instructor at the Surface Warfare Officers School and ran the War Gaming Department at the Naval War College. Peter retired as an Operation Specialist Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of service.

After his decorated military service, he continued his career as an Instructor at Marine Safety International (MSI) and at the Surface Warfare Schools Command as the Subject Matter Expert in RADAR, Electronic Navigation, and Maneuvering Boards. He retired in April 2022, completing 50 years of dedicated service to the nation.

As a father he participated in Boy Scouts with his son and supported his daughters and wife in Girl Scouting along with other interests; band, sports and religious confirmations. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, cooking, and camping. Some of his favorite family times were playing board games, having pizza and movie nights or playing curb ball outside in the evenings.

He was an active member in many charitable organizations including the Disabled American Veterans, RI Special Olympics and the ELKS. Peter achieved the honored level of Exalted Ruler of the Newport, RI Lodge (2002), and District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler (2005), Second Vice President for the RI State ELKS Association (present) and Honorary Member of Bristol County

ELKS Lodge #1860. He and Raye found a true bond of friendship within the ELKS Organization throughout Rhode Island. They found great joy in assuming the persona of Santa and Mrs. Claus for the Rhode Island Veterans Home, children of various organizations such as the ELKS Lodges, as well as Special Needs children in Newport County. He loved his work as the Head Coach for the RI Special Olympics Bowling Team. He was an avid golfer and always shared his love of the game with family and friends. He organized many charity golf tournaments throughout the years. He loved golfing with his brothers, his children and his grandchildren and his second wife, Audrey. After becoming a widower, he found comfort and companionship with longtime friend, Audrey, which turned into a loving relationship. Peter and Audrey married in February 2024.

Peter is survived by his wife, Audrey Amryan, his daughters, Jennifer Ratliff and Jamie Goeden, his brothers, Michael Fucito, Walter Fucito and David Fucito, his brother-in-law, Karl Hansen; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Raye, Gavin Charles, Lillian Marie, John Peter, Angelina Katherine, his nieces and nephews along with many extended family members and friends.

Peter is predeceased by his mother, Beatrice, June 1989, his father, Michael May 1999, his wife, Raye, May 30, 2022, and his son, Peter Michael, December 12, 2020.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, RI.
