Paula Jean “PJ” Ciafrei, 69, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital.
Born in Warwick, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph E. and Florence D. “Flo” (Boyer) Ciafrei. Paula Jean was a lifelong resident of West Warwick, where she built a life rooted in dedication and enduring relationships.
PJ devoted many years of service to the Internal Revenue Service, working within the Criminal Investigation Unit, as well as with the ATF, before her retirement. Her work reflected her commitment to integrity and public service. She was a proud graduate of West Warwick High School, Class of 1974.
Outside of her professional life, PJ found joy in the simple pleasures that brought her peace—especially her love for jigsaw puzzles, a pastime that reflected her patience and thoughtful nature. She shared a special bond with her cherished four-legged companion, Dorothy, who brought her comfort and companionship.
She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her, especially her devoted fiancé, Dan Maher, and her sister, Carmel M. Sharpe.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Gathering on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 PM at the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
