Paul William Richards was 70 years young, passed from this life on Thursday, November 14, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Paulette M. (Beaudoin) Richards, his three children; Heather Damiano, Christopher Richards (partner Katie), and Aaron Richards (wife Sarah), along with his seven grandchildren. Born in Providence, a son of the late Jeannine L. (Lambert) Dorion and Paul V. Richards. Also predeceased by his step-father Philip A. Dorion, his sister Jeannine ‘Lori’ Ucci and niece Julie Padula.
Since retiring from EG&G Sealol/John Crane after more than 41 years, he recently perfected his porch garden where “Pepere’s ‘Matos” were all the craze. Fall time brought his favorite outdoor activities where he witnessed many sunrises and sunsets, occasionally securing a nap as nature began to wake.
However, that did not compare to the joy cooking for others brought him. Whether it be donating his time to a cause, driving hours and hauling gear in any weather across state lines to run concession, or simply cooking for his family at home regardless of time, Paul loved connecting with others through a cooked meal. If possible, he would give the clothing off his back to help someone in need all the while trying to get them to laugh.
Throughout his life, Paul is remembered not only as a son, brother, father, pepere, sport announcer and videographer, coach, dedicated lefty BP pitcher, town recreation board member, town board of canvassers, cook, volunteer, handyman, and jokester, but he is also remembered for his dedication, fierce loyalty, and the overall positive presence he instilled wherever he went.
His funeral will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence St, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in SS. John and James Church, Washington Street, West Warwick. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm.
