DeCiantis, Michele A. “Mike”, 79, of West Greenwich, formerly of West Warwick, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, February 9, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA.
He was the beloved husband of the late Suzanne G. (Valerien) DeCiantis, upon her passing in 2021, they had been married for fifty-six years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Michele and Colombe (Jussaume) DeCiantis. He resided in West Warwick for many years before moving to West Greenwich five years ago.
Mike began his working career at a young age working with his family’s business, DeCiantis Dairy for many years. Following the dairy, he was employed at Paperades in Westerly and later became maintenance supervisor at Arkwright Manufacturing in Hope before retiring. As a youth, Mike received the Eagle Scout, the highest achievement or rank attainable in the program of the Boy Scouts of America. He served with the U.S. Army National Guard and was an active member for forty years with the Rhody Rovers Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed RVing, fishing, camping, traveling, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren, as well as with his beloved cat, Rupert.
He is survived by a daughter, Michelle A. Collette and her husband David P. Collette of Coventry; two grandchildren, Meghan and Daniel Collette and two siblings, Joyce Nelson of Coventry and David DeCiantis in New York. He was the brother of the late Stephen C. DeCiantis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 10:00-12:00 p.m. in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by a funeral home service at 12:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick.
