Michael R. Charpentier, age 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 2025, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.
He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia E. (McHale) Charpentier, who passed away in 2007. Born in Central Falls, Michael was the cherished son of the late Raymond J. and Dorilda V. (Sweet) Charpentier. He resided in Coventry for many years, where he made lasting memories with friends and family.
A proud alumnus of Tolman High School, class of 1966, Michael was a dedicated athlete and football player. He furthered his education at Johnson & Wales, where he earned an associate's degree in accounting and computer science. Michael's patriotism shone through his service with the US Navy from 1968-1972 during the Vietnam era as an electrician.
After his naval service, Michael continued his career as an electrician, working with the IBEW Local 99 for thirty-six years before retiring. Known for his friendly, outgoing nature, and his generosity with both time and money, Michael was a beloved member of the community. His passion for Penn State Football was well-known among his friends and family.
Michael is survived by his three siblings, David Charpentier, Paul Charpentier, and Anne Pereira, as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. who will forever hold him in their hearts.
His funeral will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in SS. John & Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry. Interment with military honors will take place in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be on Sunday 3:00-5:00 p.m.
