Maureen R. (McCarthy) Hamilton, 68, formerly of Pawtucket and Lincoln, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, June 9, 2025, at her home. Her sudden passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Maureen was the beloved wife of the late James A. Hamilton, with whom she shared a joyful marriage until his passing in 2010. Born in Providence and raised in Cranston, she was the devoted daughter of the late John L. McCarthy and Claire M. (Hanks) McCarthy-Cadorette and step-daughter of the late Eugene Cadorette.
With a sharp mind and a quick wit, Maureen built a career as an executive secretary, working with distinction at Ernst &Young and Peat Marwick tax firms and Marshall Contractors in Rumford. Her attention to detail and dedication to her colleagues earned her a reputation for professionalism, warmth, and quiet strength. She retired with pride, knowing she had made a meaningful impact in her field and in the lives of those she worked alongside. She loved playing her guitar for family and friends especially around the holidays that turned into great singalong. She also enjoyed bowling and hanging out with her friends.
Beyond her accomplishments, Maureen lived a life rich in friendship, creativity, and community. Family was the cornerstone of Maureen’s life. She is survived by her loving siblings, Erin C. McCarthy of Providence and John K. McCarthy and his wife Diane of Johnston. She was a beloved aunt to her nephew, Michael K. McCarthy, and nieces, Stephanie L. McCarthy, Amy R. West, Lauren M. Pringle and Erica Haggerty. Her kindness, guidance, and steady presence will be deeply missed by her ten grand-nieces and grand-nephews, all of whom adored her. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Shelia A. Morello and Catherine F. McCarthy.
