Marlene (Gibran) Gilmour, 76, passed away April 15, 2025 at home on Block Island after years of living with Alzheimer's. Born on January 2, 1949 in Naugatuck, Conn. She lived a life marked by warmth, laughter, and deep connection to the people and places she held dear.
She leaves her husband of 55 years, William Edmund Gilmour. Her daughter Wendy Sara (Gilmour) Telesca and her husband Thomas of Watertown, Conn. Her son William Edmund Gilmour Jr. and daughter-in-law Melissa (Debarber) Gilmour of Thomaston, Conn. Her grandchildren Jillian Telesca, Julie Telesca, Isabella Gilmour, Chloe Gilmour and William David Gilmour and great-grandchildren Elsie Mae Marinelli, Eva Marlene Marinelli, and best friend John Gennarelli. Jillian's fiance Matthew Marinelli.
She was the daughter of George and Margaret Gibran. Marlene grew up in Naugatuck, Conn. before making her home on Block Island. Marlene worked as a housekeeper at the Sea Breeze Inn. Known for her dedication and general interest in others, Marlene welcomed friends to her home for heartfelt conversations over her favorite wine and home-cooked meals. Marlene was active in the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed organizing the bingo gifts and selling the special tickets.
Family was central to Marlene's life. She embraced her role as Mema with boundless love and energy and remained deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother George Gibran and his wife Cheryl of Wolcott, Conn., Karen (Gibran) Barrett, her husband Richard of Naugatuck, Conn., Joyce Gibran of Brownsville, Maine and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Marlene's life will be held graveside on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Block Island Cemetery.
