Mark Laboissonniere, 68, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2026, at Newport Hospital.
Born in Warwick, he was the beloved son of Donald N. Laboissonniere of Sarasota, Florida, and the late Sylvia L. “Cindy” (Siniard) Laboissonniere.
Mark was a proud 1975 graduate of West Warwick High School, where he was known for his athletic spirit and enjoyed playing football for the Wizards. His love of sports extended beyond the football field, as he also enjoyed baseball, golf, and his time as a member of the Cranmore ski racing team.
A gifted guitarist, Mark found great joy in music throughout his life. He loved listening to music, sharing conversations about his favorite artists and songs, and expressing himself through his guitar. He will be remembered as a kind and friendly soul whose warm nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
As a young man, Mark was diagnosed with schizophrenia, a challenge he faced with strength throughout his life. His family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt gratitude the many caregivers and organizations who supported Mark over the years with compassion and dedication, including The Kent Center, Newport County Mental Health, Summer Villa, the doctors, nurses, and staff of Rhode Island Hospital, Kent County Memorial Hospital, Newport Hospital, and Fresenius Kidney Care. To those whose names may not be specifically mentioned, the family remains forever grateful for your kindness and care.
In addition to his father, Mark is survived by his three brothers, Gregory, Wade, and Evan Laboissonniere; his nephews, Dane, True, and Beau Laboissonniere; his niece, Mara Card; his great-nephew, Brendan Card; and his close friend, Jill Turner. He was predeceased by his mother, Sylvia L. “Cindy” Laboissonniere.
Funeral services and interment will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mark’s memory may be made to The Kent Center or the Chris Collins Foundation to support young people facing serious mental health challenges.
