Marie T. (Springer) Nesselbush, 92, of Providence, formerly of Buffalo, New York, passed peacefully on Sunday evening, January 19, 2025 at Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Marie was the beloved wife (twice!) of Donald J. Nesselbush and her 4th husband, the late Steven B. Viti. Born in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of the late Frank W. and Genevieve M. (Liszka) Springer. She is survived by her loving daughter, Donna M. Nesselbush and her wife, Kelly Carse, and sons, Carl A., Gerald F. (Laurie) and the late Thomas J. Nesselbush, along with grandchildren, Lindsey Nesselbush Owen, Cory Nesselbush, Kelli Nesselbush and Jaime Nesselbush, along with five great grandchildren. She was the beloved sister of the late Lorraine L. Kruzel, and beloved aunt to nieces and nephews: Michael (Leondra) Kruzel, Susan (Craig) Kruzel Alessandra, Tim (Lori) Kruzel, Kathy (Kevin) Kruzel Smith, along with many great nieces and nephews.
An ardent fan of the Buffalo Bills, it appears Marie waited until just after she knew the Bills had won their playoff game before “transcending“ home to God where she will hopefully have more influence over the games to come! Marie was the longest reigning resident in Steere House history, having lived there for over 20 years, after her stroke in 2001. The “Carmens” (Carmen Williams and Carmen Garcia) were her devoted CNA’s who treated her with tender, loving care always, as did Costella and Akua and so many others. In her final days, she was surrounded by her loving family and her loving Steere House family. Marie’s daughter Donna is eternally grateful to everyone at Steere House for making the last 20 years of Marie’s life so special.
Mrs. Nesselbush did secretarial work in many capacities for many years until retiring. She lived in Wappingers Falls and Baldwinsville, NY before returning to Buffalo. After her stroke, her daughter brought her to Steere House, so they could be closer together.
Marie was an elegant woman who lit up the room. In her early 20’s, she was actually crowned a “beauty queen.” She loved life, including her red wine and a good cigarette to accompany a good party or conversation. Back before her stroke, she and her beloved late sister, Lorraine L. Kruzel, could bang out a mean jitterbug! Even in a wheelchair, she found a way with that right shoulder to move to the music! Her zest for life always shined through; she earned in the nursing home the nicknames “Lola” and “Hot Mama,” for reasons Donna still does not want to know. Marie deeply loved God and her family, especially her four children and grandchildren, and her life was so enriched by Donna’s many friends, including Maryellen Butke and Josephine O’Connell, Martha Bebinger and her kids, and the Latinos including Alido & Martin, Tia Lucy, Stella & Fernando, Nicolas & Benjamin, Patricia & Gabriel and many more. She exuded love, and Sunday afternoons were always spent poolside or watching football or just hanging out, cooking, eating and drinking wine. Her love leaves behind more than death can ever take away.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visitation on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in Saint Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main Street, Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., also at Saint Mary of the Bay Church.
