Maria Merces Vieira Obituary

VIEIRA, Maria Merces, (Mota), 85, of Main Street, West Warwick, passed away Friday evening, October 23, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at home.

She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel D. Vieira, they had been married for 66 years at his passing last February.  Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Gloria (Terceira) Mota. 

Mrs. Vieira was a communicant of St. Anthony Church where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, loved spending time with family and making Portuguese sweet bread.

She is survived by her children, Adelia Brum of West Warwick, Lucy Santos of Warwick, Jaime Vieira of West Warwick, Olga Calheta of West Warwick and Cindy Panagopoulos of West Warwick; three siblings, Jose Mota, Ester Sousa and Evelyn Medeiros all of West Warwick; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  She was the beloved mother of the late Edmundo Vieira and Cidalia Vieira and sister of the late Norberto and Manuel Mota.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 10:00 am in St. Anthony Church, Sunset Avenue, West Warwick (all COVID-19 guidelines will be observed).  Due to the pandemic the visiting hours and interment will be private for the family.  Arrangements with PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home.  Information and condolences please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
