Louise “LuLu” M. (Petrarca) Rossi, 77, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 20, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital.
Born in Providence, LuLu was the beloved daughter of the late Anthony J. “Bucky” Petrarca, Jr. and Rose D. (DiFiore) Petrarca. She spent her early years in the Natick section of Warwick and raised her children in West Warwick. In 1988 she moved to Siesta Key Florida until 2000 finally making Coventry her longtime home, where she created a life rich in love, resilience, and joy.
LuLu enjoyed working in several different careers including as a hairdresser, and working in the Sarasota county jail receiving area. She also dedicated many years of her life working as a receptionist in the healthcare field, where her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on patients and colleagues alike. Her generous heart and gentle spirit touched everyone she met.
A proud breast cancer survivor, LuLu faced life’s challenges with courage and grace. She was happiest in the company of her family, especially her cherished granddaughters, who brought immense light to her life. She was a die-hard New York Yankees fan, never missing a game, and had a passion for U.S. figure skating, delighting in the beauty and artistry of the sport.
LuLu’s claim to fame was her love for family style Italian cooking, most specifically her Sunday macaroni and meatballs, and highly sought after Holiday lasagna.
LuLu’s memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Sheri A. Rossi and Dennis J. Rossi, Jr.; her dear siblings, Elisa Maciel and Anthony J. Petrarca, III; and her precious granddaughters, Marlee Rose Storrar and Taylor Marie Storrar. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to family.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence Street, West Warwick. Interment will be private. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
