Lorraine M. (Ducharme) Champagne, 94, of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice G. Champagne. Married for sixty-three years before his passing in 2016, together they built a life rooted in devotion, hard work, and family.
Born in West Warwick, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Alfred and Coranna (Paquin) Ducharme. She resided in West Warwick for most of her life before moving to East Greenwich in 1999.
Lorraine worked for many years as a lace weaver in several textile mills before beginning a long and dedicated career at Kent Hospital, where she served as a medical secretary for twenty-five years until her retirement in 1997. Known for her warm smile and meticulous nature, she built lasting friendships and earned the respect of colleagues and patients alike.
A woman of simple joys and steadfast spirit, Lorraine was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, and knitting—pastimes that brought her great joy and many cherished memories with family and friends.
She leaves behind four loving children: Denise Petrarca, David L. Champagne and his wife Deborah, Daniel Champagne, and Dale Champagne. She was the proud grandmother of David Champagne, Jr. and Diana Champagne and her partner Jon Wittig, and the adoring great-grandmother of “JC” Wittig. Lorraine was predeceased by her siblings Rita O’Shea, Norman Ducharme, Joseph Ducharme, and Edgar “Jerry” Ducharme.
