Leonora P. (Clancy) Breig

Leonora Pauline (Clancy) Breig, 95, of Denver Colorado and Fort Myers FL, passed away on May 8th, 2021 of natural causes. She was born on July 19th, 1925 in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Patrick and Celia (Ryan) Clancy. She graduated from Classical High School as well as Rhode Island College (B.A. and M.A. in Education). While at RIC, Lee was the President if her class.

Lee met the love of her life, Donald J. Breig, in the summer of 1944 and later married on March 31st, 1951. They were married for 61 years, until the passing of Don in 2012. Her career as a middle school mathematics teacher lasted for 30+ years in the Warwick RI school district.

Throughout her life, Lee was an avid book reader, especially during the summers when school was out. She enjoyed being on the sailboat in the Narragansett Bay sun and reading a good book. Upon retirement, Lee took up golfing and bowling, mostly as social events with great friends. She also loved to attend crafts fairs as a seller of their bird and duck carvings in NH. She enjoyed the customer interactions at these fairs immensely.

Lee and Don lived for many years in Warwick, RI and raised their three sons, John, Robert, and David. Upon retirement, they summered in the home they built in Sunapee, NH and wintered in Fort Myers, FL along the way creating many great lifelong friendships.

Leonora is survived by her sister Joan McSweeney of El Cajon CA, son and daughter in-law John and Cathy (Americus) Breig of Denver CO, son and daughter in-law Robert and Valerie (Cunningham) Breig of Hampton NH, and son David Breig of Greenfield MN. She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Eryn (Breig) Plata, Trevor Breig, Haley (Breig) McMahon and Kory Breig, Paula and Theodore Breig, and Hannah, Tamara (Breig) Chapman and Jacob Breig as well as 7 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John Clancy, Mary E. Clancy, Frederick Clancy, and William Clancy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 10:00 am in St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Place, Cranston.  Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association to help find a cure for this disease. https://www.alz.org/
