LONG, Kathleen V. (Forkin), 88, of Cranston, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 6, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at the Jane Brown Unit of Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
She was the beloved wife of the late Earl D. "Doc” Long, Jr., who passed away in 2013. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (Cullen) Forkin. She resided in Cranston since 1983.
Mrs. Long was a quality control supervisor at Vitreous, Inc. for several years before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Matthew Church and never forgot her Irish heritage and her beloved Assumption Parish in Providence.
A "homebody" by nature and only began working outside the home once all the children were attending school. You could be guaranteed to find a " Sunday dinner" no matter if it was a hot and humid day or how many of the children would be there. She always saved you a plate. When asked what made her happiest her response would always be "seeing my kids." Her love and concern for anyone she met was genuine. There was a sincerity about "Ket" that was undeniable and anyone that met her also felt that sincerity. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
She was the beloved mother of Stephen M. Long, Diane T. Santaniello, Michael J. Long, PPD (Ret.), Patricia A. Long (Mickey Araujo) and John E. Long. Loving grandmother of Michael W. Long (CPD). She was the sister of the late Margaret “Peg” Roy, Patricia Madonna, James and Thomas Forkin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 10:00 am in St. Matthew Church, Elmwood Avenue, Cranston (all health and safety precautions will be observed). Due to the pandemic visiting hours and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Missionary Society of St. Columban Fathers, 65 Ferry Road, Bristol. RI 02809 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory would be appreciated. Information and condolences please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
