Karen M. (Schmidt) Senerchia, 63, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, October 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Karen was the beloved wife of Michael N. Senerchia, with whom she shared thirty-nine cherished years of marriage. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Lucille L. (Clavette) Schmidt and the late Charles M. Schmidt. She grew up in North Attleboro before making her home in West Warwick, where she and Michael built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to their family.
Karen was a talented and creative professional who brought passion and precision to everything she did. For the past fifteen years, she served as Creative Director at Bullard Abrasives, Inc. in Lincoln, RI. Prior to that, her career included time with both the Providence Journal and Newport Daily News, where her artistic spirit and dedication were deeply valued.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Karen will be remembered for the many ways she brightened the lives of those around her. She had a deep love of nature and found peace in her garden, joy in painting, and serenity by the sea. A true sports enthusiast, Karen was an especially proud and loyal fan of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies basketball team, cheering them on with fervor and pride.
Karen's greatest joy came from her family. She was a loving mother to Christopher M. Senerchia and the late Thomas M. Senerchia, whose memory she held close to her heart every day. She was a proud and grandmother to Charlotte and Augustine Senerchia. She is also survived by her two devoted brothers, Gary Schmidt and Paul Schmidt, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will carry her memory forward with love.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 8:45 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence Street, West Warwick. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Karen’s memory to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 — a place of compassion that provided comfort during her final days.
