Joseph George Thomas, 101, of Coventry, RI, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family, on December 15, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Muriel (Phaneuf) Thomas for 71 years.
Born on November 24, 1923, in West Warwick, Rhode Island, George was the son of the late Mariano and Maria (Pacheco) Thomas.

After returning home, George married his devoted wife, Muriel, and together they built a home in Coventry, where they raised their family. He had a long and fulfilling career in construction and landscaping.
Upon retiring, George pursued his lifelong passion for golf, leaving a lasting legacy as a fixture on the leaderboard at Coventry Pines Golf Course. George had lifelong friends on and off the golf course. In addition to golfing, he enjoyed traveling, gardening and, most of all, spending time with his family.
George was known for his kindness, quick wit, and strong sense of family. He took great pride in his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was always ready to offer a word of advice, a helping hand or a laugh to those who needed it most. His warmth, generosity, and dedication to his family will be missed by all who knew him.
