Joseph P. Silva, Jr.

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Joseph P. Silva, Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on Sunday evening, January 5, 2025, at the age of 77. Joseph passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at Kent Hospital in Warwick.

Joseph was the beloved husband of Denise M. (Lapointe) Silva, sharing fifty-four wonderful years of marriage. Born in Pawtucket to the late Joseph P. Silva, Sr. and Evelyn F. (Veader) Silva, he had been a resident of West Warwick since 1978.

Joe dedicated forty years of his life to his career as a welder at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division, before retiring in 2014. A proud Vietnam War Army Veteran, he also found great joy in fishing and golfing. However, his greatest pride was being "Poppy" to his seven beloved grandchildren.

Joseph leaves behind his devoted wife Denise; three loving children, Melissa Frenette and her husband David, Raymond Silva and his wife Jenn, and Renee Gribbin and her husband Ryan; and seven adoring grandchildren, Brielle, Abby, Keagan, Lilly, Zach, Brady, and Eve. He is also survived by his sister.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor Joseph's memory during a visitation on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Interment will be PRIVATE.
