Joseph DiCarlo Obituary

Joseph DiCarlo, 96, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, October 1, 2025, at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol.

Born in West Warwick, he was the beloved son of the late Pietro and Carmella (Padula) DiCarlo. Raised in a close-knit family and community, Joe built a life marked by quiet strength, hard work, and a deep love for the outdoors and those closest to him.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Joe served his country during the Korean War with honor and humility. After returning home, he began a long and dedicated career as a machinist at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division in Quonset, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1992.

In 1960, Joe settled in Coventry, where he would spend the next 65 years of his life. He was a man of steady routine and simple joys. Joe found peace and purpose in nature — whether jogging, biking for miles along the path, or tending to his yard with care and precision. Golf was another of his passions, and he cherished every round played with his longtime friend, Jimmy Brown.

Above all, Joe was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his loving daughters, Deborah McDonough and her husband Jim, and Diane Sadlier and her husband Robert. He also leaves behind his cherished sister, Vera Begos; four adored grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings Crispino DiCarlo, Armando DiCarlo, Albina Dilibrio, Mary Ruzzo, Palma Pucino, Madeline Diamonte, Peter DiCarlo, and Richard DiCarlo.

In keeping with Joe’s wishes, funeral services and interment with military honors at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. The family kindly asks that flowers be omitted as well.
