John G. DaTerra, 89, of Sunrise, Florida, formerly of Warwick, RI, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, November 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the long-time companion of Odete Cordeiro.
Born in Pico, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao T. and Branca J. (Carias) DaTerra. John resided in Warwick for many years before moving to Sunrise, Florida.

A man of many passions, John loved traveling and, in his younger years, was an avid tuna fisherman. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, devotion to family, and love for his faithful Chihuahua, Pico.
In addition to his companion, Odete, he is survived by his beloved daughters, Nancy M. Eckman and her husband, Christopher, and Linda A. DaTerra-Lourenco and her husband, Adalberto; and two cherished granddaughters, Alexandra and Megan Lourenco. He was predeceased by his former wife Maria (Lobao) DaTerra.
