John B. Ashey, Jr., 86, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 14, 2026, at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Martha I. (DiCarlo) Ashey, with whom he shared 62½ years of marriage.
Born in Coventry, he was the son of the late John B. Ashey and Elizabeth (Lyons) Ashey, and he remained a lifelong resident of the town he loved.
Mr. Ashey was employed for over twenty-five years as an automotive tire salesman with Sears Automotive at the former Midland Mall in Warwick. Following his tenure with Sears, he continued working with Sodexo Food Services until his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Ashey greatly enjoyed hunting up north and fishing in New York. He also took pride in tending his garden, especially growing tomatoes, which brought him much joy over the years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves many loving nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gerard Ashey, Dorothy "Eleanor" Brouillard, Mary Munslow, and Theresa Ozel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence Street, West Warwick. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
