Joan W. (Ukleja) Lowder

Joan Wanda (Ukleja) Lowder, 82, of West Warwick, passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Kent Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Lowder, Sr.  Born in Providence, raised in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Lero) Ukleja, she had lived in West Warwick since 1967.

Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, especially traveling to Florida with her husband. She was everybody’s mom, hosting all holidays at her house and welcoming friends and family. She was enormously proud of her granddaughters and would speak about them often. She enjoyed being outside in nature, taking walks, being at the beach, and other adventures.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy; her son, John and his wife Kelly and her two granddaughters, Samantha and Melanie. She is also survived by a brother, Michael Ukleja, Jr.  She was the sister of the late Theresa O’Rourke, and the late John Ukleja.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 120 Legris Avenue, West Warwick.  Interment will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Elizabeth Adult Day Center, Apponaug Center, 3270 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02886 or the Rhode Island SPCA, 186 Amaral Street, Riverside, RI 02915 in her memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences, please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
