Janice H. (Messier) Cayouette

Janice H. (Messier) Cayouette, 82, of Coventry, passed away Sunday evening, August 25, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Marcel J. Cayouette, they had been married for sixty-one years upon his passing in 2022.  Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Lionel R. and Helen E. (Kostyla) Messier.  She was a resident of Coventry since 1961.

Janice, along with her late husband Marcel, were the former co-owners of Cayouette Shoe Repair in West Warwick for fifty-five years before retiring in 2016. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church and she and Marcel loved to travel, exploring countries all over the world and spending winters in Florida and Puerto Rico.  Her enjoyments included, gardening, working on puzzles, reading and playing cards with friends on Thursday and Friday nights.  She also was dedicated to delivering Meals on Wheels for many years.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David Cayouette and his wife Lauren of Central, South Carolina and James Cayouette and his wife Tammy of Coventry; six grandchildren, Rachelle (Michael), Nicole (Derek), Jordan, David, Jr., Danielle (Rob) and Nicole (Jarrod); four great grandchildren, Ayden, Wyatt, Russel and Lily; four siblings, Roger L. Messier, Norman R. Messier, John R. Messier and Steven D. Messier and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington Street, Coventry.  Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Warwick.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to Meals on Wheels of RI, 70 Bath Street, Providence, RI 02908 in her memory would be appreciated.   Information and condolences, please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
