Gregory D. McLaughlin, Sr.

McLAUGHLIN, Gregory D. McLaughlin Sr., 80, of West Warwick, and formerly of Matunuck, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021.  He was the beloved husband of Irene Clark McLaughlin, and previously husband of the late Jane C. (Gallogly) McLaughlin.  He was born on October 16, 1940, in Cambridge, MA, son of the late Edward A. and Margaret M. (Murphy) McLaughlin.

He was a graduate of Brown University, class of 1963, a member of the Delta Phi fraternity and a player on the Brown University varsity hockey team, where he was the team’s high scorer for two years. He also earned his Master’s in Economics at the University of New York at Stony Brook (SUNY).

He had a successful career as a District Marketing Manager at Hallmark Cards, Inc., during which time, he also served as a Sales Trainer with Dale Carnegie and Associates. After retiring from Hallmark, he became the Director of Instruction at Dale Carnegie, and later formed Northeast Sales and Services Inc. (NESSI), an automotive sales training consultancy. In his long-awaited final retirement, he enjoyed ballroom dancing at Fred Astaire Dance Studio, vacations with his wife, Irene, to the Caribbean and to Europe and spending time with his ten beloved grandchildren.

Mr. McLaughlin was a communicant at St Joseph’s Church in West Warwick. He also volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing Holy Communion to Catholic patients at Rhode Island Hospital.

Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Gregory D. McLaughlin Jr. and his wife, Alicia Sherry, of Greenwich, CT, John D. McLaughlin and his wife, Robyn, of Avon, CT, and Sarah J. (McLaughlin) Campagnone and her husband, Michael, of Seekonk, MA; two stepchildren, Veronica C. (Carlevale) Roddy and her husband, Dr Sean, of Delmar, NY and John M. Carlevale and his wife, Lisa, of Hull, MA; ten grandchildren, Casey and Shane McLaughlin, Eamon and Brendan McLaughlin, Claire and Lucy Campagnone, Connor, Taylor and Caitlyn Roddy, and Ryder Carlevale; a brother, Edward A. McLaughlin, Jr. of Merced, CA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Richard M. McLaughlin and Jean (McLaughlin) Place.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence St., West Warwick.  Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale, RI.  Visiting hours Friday 5:00-7:00 pm in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence St., West Warwick.  In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence St., West Warwick, RI 02893 in his memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
