Gilda O. (Petrin) Malo, of West Greenwich, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, February 18, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of the late Paul F. Malo, Sr., who passed away in 2013. Born in Coventry, a daughter of the late Clovis and Elvira (Cabral) Petrin. She resided in Coventry before moving to West Greenwich in 2000.
Mrs. Malo was an elementary teacher in the Coventry School District for thirty one years, primarily at Blackrock Elementary School, before retiring in 1996. She was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Church, enjoyed bowling, traveling and visiting the casinos with her brother but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Paul F. Malo and his wife Heather Marcoux of Coventry; two brothers, George Petrin of Coventry and Clovis Petrin in Ohio; five grandchildren, Shane, Elizabeth, Justine, Maia and Chelsea and a great grandson, Wyatt. She was the mother of the late Joseph L. Malo and sister of the late Judith J. Beaudoin.
Her funeral will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in SS. Peter & Paul Church, Highland Street, West Warwick. Interment will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
