Frederick "Fred" Zienowicz Obituary

Frederick "Fred" R. Zienowicz, 86, of Warwick, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 31, 2024.

He was the beloved husband of Gloria A. (Sepe) Zienowicz, they had been married for 65 years.  Born in Providence, a son of the late John A. and Felicia H. (Kacofka) Zienowicz.  He was a resident of Cranston before moving to Warwick in 1963.

Fred, along with three of his brothers in 1961, were the founding partners of the former Zienowicz Brothers, Inc., a machine-tool rebuilding company where they ran a successful business until retiring in 1998.

Besides his wife he leaves two daughters Jeanne Vinacco and her husband Paul of North Kingstown and Diane Zedros and her husband Stephen of Lexington, MA; four grandchildren, Nicholas Vinacco and his fiancé Katie Kalina, Anthony Vinacco and his wife Jessica, Robert Zedros and Jessica Zedros; a great grandson, Daniel Vinacco and many nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Vincent, Francis “Steve”, Julian, Mitchell, Florian, Raymond, Stanley and John Zienowicz, Monia Konerko, Dominica “Jenny” Tedeschi, Ann Katkowski, Eleanor Danko, Melvina Zienowicz, Irene Salzillo and Phyllis Mendozzi.

Fred spent many fulfilling days with his family and friends and especially enjoyed his favorite activities of boating, golfing, tennis, fishing, skiing, hockey and dancing.  He will forever be known as the man who could fix anything; no plumbing, electrical or handyman project was too much for Fred to tackle.  He was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he performed vessel examinations and taught boating safety.

Fred was dedicated to his family and passionate about gathering the family together and watching his grandchildren and great grandson as a supportive spectator on the sidelines of sports games or concert venues.  It was evident that family always came first in the many ways that Fred showed his love for his family.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 8:45 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Kevin Church 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick.  Entombment will be in SS.
