Esther I. (Simas) Hebert, 97, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, surrounded by the comfort of compassionate care.
She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond O. Hebert, with whom she shared forty-five devoted years of marriage until his passing in 2017. Born in West Warwick, she was a cherished daughter of the late Joseph N. and Mary (Arugo) Simas, and remained a proud lifelong resident of the community she loved.
Mrs. Hebert dedicated over thirty years of faithful service as a nursing assistant at Eleanor Slater Hospital in Cranston, formerly known as the State Medical Center. Her work reflected a quiet strength, compassion, and commitment to the well-being of others. Outside of her profession, Esther found great joy in following sports and was known for her enthusiasm as an avid fan, always enjoying the excitement of the game.
She leaves behind her loving family, including her two sons, Dwayne Simas and his companion Shirlene Mahaley of Neptune Beach, FL and Michael R. Hebert and his wife Jamie of West Warwick; a daughter, Susan Ayer and her husband Bradley of South Berwick, ME as well as her cherished grandchildren, Dawn, Derek, Andrew, Christopher, Laura, Ryan and Renee; fifteen great-grandchildren and a great great grandson. She was the dear sister of the late Mabel Brouillard, Jennie Moniz, Mary Dupuis, Alfred Simas, and Arthur Simas.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 9:00–10:00 AM in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, followed by a funeral home service at 10:00 AM.
