VESPIA, JR., Elmer J. ‘Almondo’, 78, of Coventry, passed away Saturday evening, December 31, 2022 at Crystal Lake Rehabilitation Care Center in Pascoag, RI.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy M. (Theetge) Vespia. Born in Providence, a son of the late Elmer Vespia, Sr. and Mae (Sepe) Vespia. He was a resident of Coventry for most of his life.
Mr. Vespia was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War and went on to work at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division for ten years. Following Electric Boat he was a carpenter for many years in the home construction industry. In his free time, Almondo enjoyed building, sitting by the ocean and loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was a member of the West Warwick American Legion, Post 2.
He is survived by two sisters, Katherine Plante and her husband Richard and Ann Charpentier and her husband Leo; a brother, Robert Vespia and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Timothy Vespia and brother of the late Anthony J. Vespia, Sr. and Richard Vespia.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Service followed by Military Honors on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 301 South County Trail, Exeter (please gather at 12:45 p.m. in the Administration Bldg. parking area as you enter the cemetery on the right).
