Elizabeth "Betty" Ann (Harding) Smith

SMITH, Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Harding), 86, of High Street, Hope, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday afternoon, June 28, 2022 at home.

She was the beloved wife of the late Clinton L. “Smitty” Smith, upon his passing in 2020 they had been married for sixty-seven years.  Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William C. and Evelyn I. (Scott) Harding.  She had been a resident of Hope since 1954.

Mrs. Smith was a lace inspector with Artistic Lace Co. in Warwick for eighteen years before retiring in 1998.  She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed sewing and bowling.

She is survived by six children, Dianne Rich and her husband David of Hemet, California, Wayne Smith and his wife Kathy of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Dawn Smith of Hope, RI, Denise Etchells and her husband Steven of Hope, RI, Darcee Etchells and her husband Dennis in Gilford, New Hampshire and Dorie Smith of Kissimmee, Florida.  She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  She was the sister of the late Gwendolyn Lake, Alvin Harding, William Harding and Robert Philbrick.

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 10:00 am in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by interment in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  Visiting hours Tuesday 4:00-7:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers contributions to the Hope-Jackson Fire Company July 3rd Celebration Fund, 117 Main Street, P.O.
